FACS worked with a leading international athletic equipment manufacturer on a special project that evaluated worker exposure to chemical hazards in contract factories.
These factories produced a variety of different types products including athletic wear and sports equipment. FACS traveled with the client project team to factories in Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe to conduct initial assessments of potential occupational chemical exposures. Using the gathered information on employees and work processes, FACS then developed an exposure assessment strategy to gather quantitative exposure data. Chemicals sampled included but were not limited to industrial solvents, isocyanates, particulates and acid gases.
The resulting exposure data was then used to educate the contract factories on exposure issues, helped make recommendations for environmental health control measures and provided the client with quantitative data for help in decision-making and Environmental Health and Safety auditing purposes.
